are the stock axles in your 05 stronger than the ones in my 99? i mean when i do go offroad i go and the extra inch would help! and like you i want to run iroks too! and the 36's look great my dad has them and i like them alot! but if im just going to break stuff then theres no reason in them! but trust me i abuse my truck from driving over palmettos and sapling trees though mud and everything else in the way! but its only 2-3 times a year that i go that serious... and its at hunting camp while we are setting up stands a food plots! otherwise i just do mud around my house and dads place! but 4.88s here i come

I dont know where Ford says, here is our axle its rated for xx size tires. The only way is try it and find out. If you gentle (not pedal to the floor spinning all 4 tires in 4Lo) I would think that axles could handle it.

yeah thats what i figure! and i never spin my tires unless i have to! im very big supporter of tread lightly! id rather go slow and in a super powerful gear and crawl over everything! i do understand that in mud the tires need to spin to get clean but thats why i use 4hi while in mud!

Ford doesn't say these front are rated for XX because they don't test that. That is just common Off-road knowledge not to take IFS much over 35" tires. There are upgrades you can do to improve your chances but your still playing the odds. If you go big, just bring the right tools and the correct spare parts to fix it and get her home. Don't get mad or be surprised when you break parts. It all part of the fun, figuring out how to get home. Go prepared so you can wheel hard, have fun, and tread lightly.

thats well said...typed... i think half the fun is fixing things! im most likely will be sticking with 35's unless i get tired of them. i looked at some upgrades i could do to my ifs but i dont even know if it would be worth it! if i went bigger than 35's it will be a ways down the road i have a set of 34's i have to go though and then will be buying 35's....haha so we will see thanks Mercedes!

No problem bud. Always willing to help out a fellow "off-road enthusiast". Its a great, growing sport and the more people we get into it, the better chances of keeping more wheeling land open. Upgrades for the IFS are out there and they would help, but the best bet is just to buy spare parts. The best thing you can do would be buy some after market UCA's (looks into Total Chaos or Camburg Design) and perhpas upgrade the rear-end. Buy some Chromoly axles, beefier gears and carrier, and you can even go as far as to truss it, making it super rigid. Just some more ideas for "down the road". IFS sucks, but it still works. Drive smart and treat your truck nicely and it should return the favor.
