I did say '97-'03 trucks didnt I? I know that the newer motor gets slightly better mileage, thats why I specified the years.

I could get over 19 mpg on the hwy if the ole lady didn't demand A/C, otherwise about 18 to 18.5 mpg. In town is different each couple of weeks depending on how many punks I encounter. And they come in all sizes.

When I get my Scanguage II where I can see it and the road at the same time, I could increase my mpg, at least until I encounter another punk.

If I drive really conservative I can pull a tad over 15 mpg mainly city driving but on average I get 14. I haven't taken a dedicated highway trip so I'm still not for sure what it would be.

14 mpg city. I pulled 17mpg pulling a trailer with a four wheeler and one in the bed. Mind you this was FLAT ground, I probilby could have 18 with out the trailer. Im sure if you mind the 2,000 rpm rule you should get decant mpg. I would like to know what I am getting now after all my mods but I cant stop flooring the truck to listen to the exhaust. And the way Troyer tunes the tranny does not help either.

I hear ya on the sound, lovely isn't it? I have had my Scanguage II only a few days but as long as you can get something to show real time changes in mpg, you can adjust your foot on the pedal and make some increases in mpg. No kidding, on a stretch of close to a mile on my route to work, and with the digital readout in front of me, I got to speed, tranny shifted to OD, and I let off, and the gauge read over 41 mpg, but no sooner than I pressed just a little, it came back down to 20 or so, but at that 41 mpg I wasn't coasting, I just maintained speed with a little less throttle position percentage. Analog needles on the instrument cluster are no match for digital numerical readouts in real time!

One of my tunes from TP was an economy mode, and I think what he did there was to make the tranny shifts less sensitive to the throttle position.

I am getting about 14.7 around town and 17.9 on the highway. I am not sure if its a factor, but I am running a K&N FIPK with a magnaflow muffler (stock pipes). I will be replacing the plugs and coils in the near future and hope to crack 15 & 18 respectively with the new parts.

I got my Scangauge II mounted on the sun visor so I can quickly glance up and still watch the road. If babied enough in OD, and I mean babied, staying in the mid 20's is no big deal, even significant time in the 30 mpg range. However, even the slightest grade with your foot that light on the pedal and your truck will slow down, but if on a level road, you can maintain both speed and fuel consumption rate. Having a readout in front of you for the sake of fuel economy will definitely cause you to drive very different than without that and only the fuel needle on the instrument cluster to guide you.
