Hi-Lift Jacks

Howdy,
I was curious if anyone has ever had to use a Hi-Lift Jack to pull someone from the mud, like a winch. It sounds do able with a chain or tow rope and of course something stationary like a tree or another truck.

So has anyone used a Hi-Lift Jack as a winch while off-roading?
And how well does it work?

works pretty much like a come-a-long does. they are designed to function as a hand winch if necessary, they even market a line of accessories for winching with their jacks. They work as well as a hand winch can, in a pinch they are great, especially if you dont have winch or come-a-long already in/on your truck, just make sure you carry enough straps/chains to work with the jack

Hi-Lifts are a great offroading accessory.

As you can imagine, it's slow going when used as a come-a-long, but it's definately better than nothing.

I've used one all my life, but never carried it in my truck. And yes it is better than nothing. I think I'm going to buy the winch kit Hi-Lift makes. Thanks for the replies.

Just buy the x-treme model jack. It's ready to winch right off the UPS truck,

I would be curious about this one. Can you put up a link to it?

Make sure you do not use a ****** strap or any other type of nylon strap. You will only be wasting your time and energy stretching the strap.

Use chain.
