max tire size

What is the maximum tire size for a stock sport f-150 4.6? I like to go where stock trucks can and not much more but want bigger tires. Oh yeah, it is awfully embarassing being pulled out by a colarado like last night!!

If its on the 2000 you list in your profile then a 285/75/16 (or 285/70/17) is the largest you can go on the stock 7" rims. You won't have any rubbing issues. You can go up to a 305/70/16 on stock rims, but it'll wear the tires prematurely and will try and rub. 16x8 wheels will make the tires wear better, but will rub worse. You can put a 3" body lift on and fit up to a 315/75/16 tire even on a 10" wheel. That will require some minor trimming (5 min and hard to even see it). On 16x8 wheels you wouldn't have any rubbing. I ran all those setups but the 305s on my old 97 F150.
