just went mudding

so i did this course right behind the hummer dealership, where the guy told me that a f150 4x4 could not make it, steep inclines. well i did and with ease. its was so fun, this was my first time to mud in my new truck.
well i have a question, can mudding hurt anything, should i go wash it down now, or will it hurt anything, such as the shocks or brakes???

Off roading is hard on every system in a vehicle. Leaving mud on the truck will hurt the paint in the long run. I consistently drive around with a thick coat of mud on my truck, but my truck wasn't pretty to begin with, so I don't really care. If you want your truck to look good for a long time, wash that mud off. Also, mud traps moisture and can lead to rotting electrical components.

why would your F150 not make it if Hummer can I know they might have a little more ground clearance but not that much.

H1's are a different beast from their successor, the H2

Mud is pretty bad for paint as you already heard...but it's also really bad for seals in your truck. Mud will hold in moisture and just rot the crap out of just about anything it gets stuck to.

Mudding is better for trucks than rock-crawling though. When you crawl rocks, you break stuff right away...when you mud, it gradually breaks over time.

Never driven the civillian one, but being in the army I can say the military H1 is a piece of crap. My F-150 can do SO much more than those damn things. They get stuck in inches of mud, lose power up short hills, and are slow as hell. The only thing they are good for is not bottoming out on a flat dirt road.

An H1 that pulled me up dunes I struggled to get up in my F-150 must have placed steroid pills in the gas tank. I was in neutral, not even running. Torque monster, and pretty much locked f+r, great center of gravity, weight is perfect, tire pressure switch in cab. Not a single duramax chevy (crewcabs) was able to pull me anywhere.

Was this a civillian one that pulled you up. Cuz the army one's don't have a tire pressure switch in cab, nor are they really torquey. I would believe a civillian one, only cuz I've never had the pleasure of driving one, or seeing one in action. Also I find that hard to believe ( if it was military) cuz our troop at work has a Chevy duramax with the allison tranny. A 2500 HD crew cab, and we use that more than we do our h1's cuz it is more powerful, and just nicer!
