Front axle Question

Does anyone know where I can buy a electric/air locker for the front end of my 01 F150 Screw? I don't even know what kind of front end is in my truck to buy for.

you have a 8.8 reverse cut IFS front axle, ARB makes an airlocker that will fit. also auburn makes the ected witch is a e-locker i dont know if it is production yet for the ifs 8.8 but you could check it out, good luck

The 8.8" carrier is the same for all ratios, both directions, & any style of axle (solid, IFS, IRS). The only difference is the spline count on the side gears. IDK what your front axles have, but all FS truck rears have 31.

Eaton makes an e-locker that I've been hearing alot about... electric is easier to install / maintain than air.

like steve83 said, the carrier is an 8.8 no matter which way you look at it. anything that is made for the 8.8 will work in that diff. just make sure gears are reverse cut.

Indeed, there are quite a few that will work in the front end... AFAIK, any 8.8 carrier will work. The only problem I can see with the ECTED is that it's a limited slip when unlocked, so it'll ocnstantly drag the driver's side and spin the driveshaft when in 2wd.

You'll want to be sure you get something that acts as an open diff when disengaged. There are a lot of choices. www.randysringandpinion.com and www.riederracing are always my two favorites. The guys at both places are always helpful and willing to answer even a rookie's question.

The e-locker will probably be the cheapest, most efficient way to do it. The ARB will cost at least $600 and you'll need an airtank, compressor, hoses, and the wiring to hook it all up.
