Off Roading with a stock truck

Thinking about taking my 2003 F150 Fx4 out to the mounds in Gennessee county michigan. Is there anything I should be careful of? I know some of the water holes on the trails get pretty deep like up to the bumper in water is that safe? Don't have the money to be fixing stupid mistakes so I thought I would ask first.

Ya you will be fine. Just be careful of water too high. If you dont know for sure, get out and use a stick to depth find. I have had my truck in alot of water with only having to buy a new air filter (got lucky) because I didnt check the depth of the hole.
Just take it slow too. Dont go fast across terrain you dont know. Ricks or ditches can jump out in front of you and leave you with some major problems.
WHat kind of terrain is it? Rocky, Muddy, or just trails? I dont like to trail ride my truck anymore because of scratches, but to each their own. Have fun and be safe! You will get addicted!

Yeah, What KickinBlue4x4 said. Be very careful if you are not framiliar with the trails there. What looks like a shallow set of ruts with some water might just be 3-4 ft deep. Have fun.

thanks for the replies guys. I have been to the Mounds 2 times on my dirtbike in the past 2 weeks, kinda sad considering it is january. But yeah I am kinda familiar with the trails and last time I went I watched a guy put his jeep in over the hood with water when the back wheels were still at the edge.
