Muddin mishap question

My buddie just got some new tires put on his 04 scab and we took it out last night and broke her in real well. I wanted to take it down through the mud and he said sure I tried to make it all the way in 2wd got through and went back for a second pass and got bogged down the second go around. The water was about bumper high and the truck stalled out. We yanked it out after it had been sitting for a while and it would crank but wouldnt run.Long story short we found out that it was the air intake it was soak as soon as we took that out it ran like a champ. My question is what should we look for to make sure nothing else is wrong?

Should probably just change the oil actually. Remember though, if you do, oil and water don't mix, so let it drain a little longer than normal as the water will be on top of the oil (assuming there is water, and assuming it made it's way to the oil pan...most likley place)

Oil, transfer case, and axle fluids. Prolly due for a tranny flush too.

Thanks for the input fellas he changed the oil and I bought him a new K&N because I felt bad for sucking all that water into the intake. But i guess all is well he has had no problems since we changed the filter.

if the water was up to your bumper you could have only sucked in water if you were going much too fast through it. Speed + water = trouble. I have taken stock trucks in water up to the bottom of the headlights numerous times with no problems. Slow and steady and keep a small bow wake in front a couple feet of your truck

Just remember to check water depth with stick before entry. Push to bottom and feel for firmness.

Umm, why would the water be on top??? Wouldn't the water be on the bottom? I thought oil was less dense than water?

I'm a little confused here, as your description isn't all that good. You say that the filter was soaked. When you pulled it off, did you check the air intake tract farther downstream from the filter for any water ingress? Most times if the filter is saturated then when the engine cranks it tries to pull water in from the wet filter. Good way to lose an engine. Thats why after any kind of problems in the water you check your intake tract before even trying to crank.

Yeah water sinks to the bottom of a oil pan and when you pull the plug its a bad sight to see 10 seconds of water befor oil....
