Well, went out doing some trail driving this weekend and got myself in over my head. The water hole looked no different than the other ones I had gone through that morning. It felt fine then just suddenly dropped down and that was that. The mud on the drivers side where I got out was solid as can be, jump on it and you don't move more than 1/4" off the top.


yeah, had to do a dukes of hazard and run 2 miles for help. Took 5 4-wheelers and my own power to get me out. Couldn't get any of them to bring their trucks onto the trails, yes they were designated 4X4 trails. Even if I would have had a rear winch I still would have been in trouble as there weren't any trees behind me big enough to support that much weight, (biggest was 8").
Question, is there anything I shoudl have checked by a service station? pulled the dipstick for oil and trany and no water, anything else I should look at? First time getting into something like this, any other trails I have been on are pretty dry.

Man, that is what I call a major problem. I got stuck a while ago but not that bad. By the way make sure to clean all the articulations and the brakes. You don't want that mud to dry up on you to quick.

ended up having 3 seperate groups come to help out. first group thought that they could do it with just hooking up their ATV wenches to it, (yeah that will work). By the time the 3rd group came in we were able to get a good plan together. 3 tow straps, one ATV wenched to a tree, the other 2 hooked directly to me then to another set of ATV's, and they were hooked to trees, couple people in the back left to try to offset the front tire, a bit of digging from around the rear wheel and she popped right out.
Those guys were great, heck of a group.
Lesson, check with stick for both depth and bottom firmness before entry.
We dried out the brakes plenty on the treck out of there, washdown later today. Any chance of water getting into any grearing or anything?

I actually had a similar stuck in my gallery. I went into a hole just like that but surrounded by trees and burnt cars. I started sliding in (it was extremely slick) and I had bald tires. I tried to reverse out of there but only dug myself in. I decided before I planted my roots I'd have someone give me a pull. I tried to help as they could not do it on their own and I sunk to the frame. About 8 trucks attempted to pull me out ranging from older reg cab F-150's on 35's to cherokees. I bent one cherokee's hitch, I was excited about that as I told him not to even try, this kids one of those morons who knows everything. It took a lifted Harley Superduty (orange & black) on 35" Open Country's to get me out. He got stuck in the process and they had to get him out before he tried again. Took him 8 or 9 good yanks and he finally pulled me out, I was really planted. Frames are like anchors, yank'em before they sink to it. Nice stuck, any water in there? I had one stuck where water seeped into my cab but I was able to get out on my own power eventually. I have always wondered how many quads it would take to pull me out of a few stucks, so how many total were involved and how many winched.

Heck that doesn't even always work I hit a hole like that once but before I did I walked all through the hole water was 5 inches deep and the bottom was very firm as soon as my truck hit the hole the front end just sank. Wish I could find the pics there is one of me standing in the water and you can't see the 33's the truck was sitting on.

It took 5 quads to get mem out. 3 with tow ropes directly to me, one of them wenched to a tree, the other 2 were wenched to 2 other quads who were wenced to trees. Add a couple of folks in the back left of the box to try to help take weight off the front right, (dunno how much this helped but they were helping me so I wasn't going to argue too much about it).
First group of guys that came to help thought they could just get me out using nothing but their wenches, just pulled em forwards.
After a stick like this do I need to flush out my front diff or will it be OK? New to this and need to know what all I should check.
