Automatic Truck offroading question

Does having an automatic truck hurt the transmission alot more than a regular standard? What are really the flaws behind it?

automatic 4x4 is better than a standard...when climbing hills...pulling out stuck trucks, ect, but if your born with a stick in your hand, you will never be happy with a automatic..

a standard will usually hold up to more water and crap floating around in the tranny, i mean not good for either of them but all the crap in the automatic gets wrecked very easily

for offroading a auto is better, the only thing you really need is a tranny temp gauge, and then you just got to watch the temp of the tranny that is about the only downfall is that it can get hot, other then that nothing

I agree with the rest. I also like an auto, it is sealed up better. In deep water you have to worry about the clutch slipping from being wet
