PIAA 520 Series Driving Lights.. fit behind grill?

Will the PIAA 520 Series Driving Lights fit behind the grill on my 99 F150? Eventually I plan on buying a brush guard but I'd really like a decent pencil beam light until then, and the only way I can think of mounting it is behind the grill.

"PIAA 520 Lamps measure 6” in diameter x 2-11/16” deep" Info from here

Any other lights you would recommend? I want something that'll reach pretty far out there..

Thanks in advance!

ETA: I'm not sure if this is the correct subforum for this.. searching showed lighting in a few places but nothing for my specific application

I'm new here also but I just posted a question about LightForce lights on the electrical board. They are awesome and becoming very popular with long-haul drivers and off-roading. 170mm (6.5") lights will reach about 800 meters, super-tough, acrylic (Lexan) covers in clear blue yellow black etc., focusable beam from spot to wide oval, and about 350,000 candle power. They are expensive, but you get what you pay for. Check them at: www.lightforce.net.au/

I think the PIAA have to be mounted on a hard surface. Mounting on the grill will make the lights vibrate as you are driving.Maybe on the bumper behind your grille when you lift the hood. It may clear because they are thin. It may just take some ingenuity if you want it done. Be aware that I installed some PIAA on the front bumper on each side and the wiring was extremely close to install. It was stretching to it's maximum length. Good luck. Post some pics if you get it done. Thanks

Yes, you can mount the 520s behind the grille. They are smaller depth-wise than the KC daylighters and weigh the same amount, so if anything, they will vibrate less than those with daylighters, and there aren't too many people that complain about it.

Now, that being said, the light output from behind the grille is nowhere near the same as having them out front. I have a buddy with the same truck as me, only his are behind the grille. A couple years ago, we were both on a dark trail.... mine (mounted on the grille guard) made his look like regular high beams.
