Off Roading in Virginia

Does anybody from Virginia know of anywhere to off road around Virginia Beach, Norfolk, or Suffolk area. I only know of one right by base and off of dock landing in Suffolk. I would really appreciate it.

We used to go behind an apartment complex off Magruder Blvd. Think the cops are onto it now, though. Still places in Gloucester, few places in York County. Kinda rough around here. The best place I ever went was behind Michael's Woods subdivision. Has Hampton Roads Parkway running through it now. If you find somewhere, let me know.

I know of one place in Virginia Beach. It is off of Princess Anne road just south of North Landing road. I hope you have a big truck though, have seen many trucks on 38s buried to the doors there....... I have been here for 7 years now, and still have not found a good place where the cops dont try to arrest you. Please, if you find on, let us all know. I am sure that you will always have a wheeling partner if you find somewhere sloppy and cop free!!!!!!!!

The reason the cops respond out their is because someone else called. The area off magruder is one of those places. Personally Ive been out their with a buddy in a jeep. But this was when the constuction crews didnt mind all to much, they just wanted everybody to stay off the new road so it didnt get all dirty. Unfortunately people didnt, now thats why they have blocked the entrances with their trucks and concrete barriers.

But like everybody else says, theirs not much land left in Hampton Roads, your probably going to either have to drive along ways to get there or have a buddy who has land that he will let you mess up.

There are a few powerline trails around here that are hidden very well. Headlights are not even visible at night, and there are no houses around so there really is no one to call the police. It seems as if they drive by there 50 times the day after it rains. I could understand if the city or state owned the property that the power lines are on, but the property is privately owned. I dont understand how they can give tickets to people leaving land that is privately owned. I gave that little bit of resoning to the Chesapeake police officer that gave me my last ticket and he said that I was correct and the worst he could tell me to do is leave. And then, he wrote me an EPA violation ticket for getting mud in the road. Which in it's own right was stupid because he stated that the mud would stop up the city drains. The judge dropped the charge when I explained to him that the rural road I was on had neither curbs or a drainage system other than the 4 foot ditch on either side. To me, it seems like they aim to give offroad enthusiats tickets for anything they can......My buddies dad owns this particular power line road, and we still get tickets. Now it is just EPA stuff. I have always been on the good side of the law, but I wish they would leave us alone when we are minding our own business......

Yeah, I thought that the EPA ticket was b.s. untill my buddy went to a carwash about a week later, and they made him stop washing the mud off his truck. They gave him a ticket for the same thing. After that, he drove the truck home and parked it in the street in front of his house for the night. As it was parked there it began to rain and the mud had wasnt able to get off began to fall onto the street. Went to his truck in the morning and had another of the same ticket because it was droppin mud in the street..........I hate this damn area.....Thats it damnit, IM MOVING!!!!!!!! Nowhere to go wheelin, and you cant have a muddy truck on the street, but if you dont have a driveway you can't wash it anywhere.....damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Wow, never heard of that. Feel sorry for your bud. I took my truck to a carwash at like one in the morning because I knew if the owner/tenent saw my muddy truck they would make me leave.

Next time tell your buddy to park the truck in the driveway, private property, he'll be just fine.

This place is really b.s. I still have 2 more years left to go. The place I use to go to now has a no trespassing sign and the only other place I used to go to is about 2 hours away and i am not going to carry my f150 out there is is more for the toyota and smaller vehicles.

He could park it in the driveway, but if the mudd runs off your truck into the street, they can still give you a ticket. I can't stand the city. Back home in S.C. we could go anywhere and do anything and never have a damn problem. I guess they just like messing with people so they dont have get shot at by drug dealers trying to stop them....You would figure that there a million things better for them to do other than to mess with a couple good ole boys playing in the mud...

It is off Portsmouth Blvd. The easiest way to get there is coming from VA Bch take I-64 towards suffulk. Take the exit for Dock Landing, it splits curve off to the right you will come up to a light. Take a right you will go over the bridge. Go to the end of the road take another right at the light . Follow the road till you come up to a church on the right side. Slow down and look to the left for to big concrete pipes. There is a dirt road between them. Take that road. In order for you to get there you will have to cross a narrow wooden bridge. Be carefull I have seen a few idiots think that they were bad @$$ and went over the side. From there just have fun. The cops dont mess with us when we are out there. I would suggest have someone with you in another 4x4. When you get to the back you will see a long stretch of nothing but a mudpit. There is only one vehicle that can make it through there. It is starting to have a rough time now. All I can say is have fun we are usually out there on either Friday or Saturday nights. Have Fun.
