Horn problems????

Well a few weeks ago me and a few friends went mudding, we ran through a few mud holes and crap like that. Of course there was mud and water flying in the air and stuff. Well i go and wash it and my horn sounds really high pitched (girly), but after a few weeks its going back to the way it use to be.
Anybody know what could have caused that or if i can fix it or anything.
Thanks alot.

It is water in the horns. After a few weeks it just evaporates. I had the same problem, couldnt figure it out and pulled the horns out. When I did, the low side horn poured about 8-10 ounces of water out. I took mine out, and am working on my on board air system to run my train horn.....

Its happened to me a couple times

Just take the horn off and get all the gunk out of it that is clogging it up. Just wash it out with clean water and you should be fine.

I'm on my 4th set of horns.... mine never seem to come back after they get wet, no matter how long I wait or how many times I try to rinse them out.

This last time, I tried re-positioning the bracket and re-directing the horns to get as little splash as possible.... so far they're still going, but we'll have to see when winter comes.

I know what you mean. My horn has been completly submerged in water a few times (damn creek crossings) and it never came back. It sounded girly for a few weeks and then it just finaly went out. Now i have nothing until I get my loud ones in.

You have to let us know about your air horn progress, will they crack windshields at close range (i.e. car in front of you?) or do any damage to anything? I want them as well so keep me updated midnight.

Happens to my 04 everytime I go offroad. Usually I lay on the horn for a good 5-10 seconds after and it helps clear it out. Sometimes it gets bad though and the truck sounds like a honda when I "beep".

for a cheap fix to keep this from hapening next time you could keep a plastic bag and a ziptie in your truck, before you go threw the water or go mudding you just put the bag over your horns and use the ziptie to keep it in place, take it off when you are done solves the problem, i always forget to do it untill after i have already been threw the mud tho so it all comes down to remembering to do it before, i just put in some $30 daller air horns from pepboys along with my stock horns they wont break any glass but they are pretty damn loud
