Fine, so you can tie knots. So can I. Ok, so your knot doesn't slip. What would you use at the end of the hose? How would you tie it? The shackles that I have will not fit a fire hose threw them.

first off start with changing ur fuel filter its only a couple of bucks and might cure ur illness if not depending on how new ur truck is u might be looking at plugs and wires or in my case was the plug coil on #7 cylinder i have a 97 also there is a pvc hose that is known to go bad on the 4.6s and 5.4s in the back of the motor it may have a hole in it

I will definitely use this advice, the $10 rope I have is in fact a rope, not a chain, it just has metal hooks, so I would think its a decent choice, I realized the possibility of a chain snapping and snapping back and breaking a windshield or ripping off your bumper (my friend sucks at stick shift, he yanked my truck and ripped the rope, lol).
I'm sure this has been stated again, however NEVER use a strap with metal hooks on the end. If that strap were to break someone could have a metal hook flying at them at a incredible rate of speed.

I used to go offroading quite a bit when I had my XJ(cherokee) and the first thing you learn is to never use a strap with hooks or a metal chain.

To tell you of the force that is being put on the strap here's a story that I saw on another site. A couple guys were offroading, one of them got stuck and strapped up to another one. They were using the straps with the loops on the end, anyway one of the guys bumpers was ripped off his jeep/truck and basically became a sling shot. It went through the guys windshield and even put a 3" hole in the driver's seat; thankfully no one was hurt. Now, just imagine that being a 2lb piece of metal flying through the air, if it didn't kill someone, they'd be in a lot of pain for a long time.

Another thing, is never never hook up to the bumper of a jeep/truck and try to pull someone out. Not sure if you already knew that or not.
