Question Bed weight to increase traction

Hi All,

This doesn't strictly apply to off-roading, but this is the closest forum topic I could find.
My new SuperCrew 4X4 is my first pickup (and I'm never going back!). I'm going on a road trip next week, and I'm likely to encounter all types of weather conditions (going to Banff, Alberta). I'm aware that placing some load in the bed will provide better traction, but can anybody tell me how much is adequate (eg. 100lbs over axle)?
(if it matters, I have the Class III towing package and 3.55 limited slip rear axle)
Thanks in advance

IMO 100lbs is not enough, try at least 400lbs. I had a 1000lbs in mine and it just barly made it sit level.

Mine is only 2wd so it needs a lot of help in the snow. I have pobably 200# from the cap and put in another 300# of sand bags in the right rear corner. The sand bags really cut down the wheel hop. I think the new tires will help the most next winter.
