mud plugged up the radiator?

i took my o3 supercrew on my first muddin' trip. it was a alot of fun. it was covered in mud. i thought i had washed all the mud off. a couple days later while traveling on the freeway the truck overheated. it was still under warrenty so took it to the ford dealer. the dealership said the radiator had mud baked on both sides. they had to pull the radiator and clean it out. is this normal? i have seen trucks way muddier than mine. how can i prevent this from happening again?

Been there done that. The only fix for it is stay out of the mud. Basically from the sounds of it you like to play in it, but don't want to clean it. Hate to tell you this, but they go hand in hand. When I used to go in the mud (can't stand it anymore) it would take me almost a day afterwards cleaning the truck to get all the mud out. I could care less what it does to the body, but it makes it a PITA to work on a truck with dirt falling in your face. Not only that but it will wear things out much faster. After you get done spend some time with a pressure washer getting the stuff out. Don't forget the undercarrige and the radiator.

the radiator is the only thing i did not clean. i didn't see all the mud on it. the heat from the radiator baked the mud on, it was a big mess. it was a huge learning experience.
