F-150 help

Ok I recently got a 1994 f150 for my 16th bday and I want to lift it and put bigger tires on it.

Does anyone know the gear ratio that my truck has? It's a 4.9L engine, standard transmission, regular cab shortbed.

I am going to put 2'' blocks under the rear leaf springs and 4'' coils and shocks up front. I can fit 35's I think but I believe I am just gonna go with 33'' SS LTB's.

I'm not sure if my engine and gears could push 35's, Does anyone know if they could, if they do I will go to 35's.

Thanks for the help.

I've heard that LTB's do not last too long on road. Strickly an offroad tire.

Damn, does anyone know of an inexpensive off roading tire that is pretty good all around? I might go with TSL's.

I have the same truck. I dont know what the gear ratio is stock. I just ditched mine for 4.10 and didnt even look. BF Goodrich All Terrain or Mud Terrain tires are good.

My money is on 3.55's. I'd max the truck on 33s, then it's time for re-gearing...

Should I go 4.10 or 4.56. They are the same price.

You could end up with some tranny issues if you went with 456 gears. 410's seem to be what most people are happy with. Besides, 456 gears would put you at an incredible RPM when you got up to like 60 in the highway. I have 3.55 gears right now in mine and with just the few mods I have done, cold air intake, ignition.etc, I have quite a bit of torque. Ill be going to a 4.10 sometime after the holidays. And id recomend the pro comp mud terrains or xterrain 33" or 35" if you throw a body lift on.

Definately no body lift, but you also have a 4.6L v8. I was thinking maybe the Xterrains but they cost alot.

On the issue of good mudders for the money, check out the buckshot maxxis mudders. They are champs in the mud and a set of 33's cost from $115-$125 apiece, depending on where you get them. And, some people that I have talked to that run them claim 50k miles out of them!

I agree, I had buckshots 31" on my truck proir to the 33" and they were real good tires. Only complaint I had was after about 30k on them one front tire and one rear tire oposite side started to shimmy. When I had them checked I discovered that they both had a slight bubble in the tread. But for the money, even 30 to 40k is good for mudders. I still like the pro comps better.

Something to keep in mind is that you will most likely rub with the bigger tires in a sharp turn. I'm running 33 x 12.5 on 15's and when I make sharp turn I can feel it rub. Mostly when I'm pulling into parking spots and turning around at the end of my street.
