what a chore...

ok guys i was wondering how everyone cleans their truck after a good offroading trip....i have been using a powerwasher (2000psi) and just layin on my back and spraying the whole underside of the truck. im pretty sure that is the only way to clean that part of the truck, but what about in the engine compartment...is it safe to take a powerwasher to that and just let it dry before you start er up??

thx, chris

Why would you want to wash your truck after offroading? I take pride in my custom mud paint job. Unfortunately, when it rains, it starts to look bad. (hears thunder outside; rats). When I do need to wash it, I just use a hose and a bucket with soap or take it down to the do-it-yourself car wash. I have washed my engine compartment before; I put a bag over the alternator and distributor just in case. You might want to protect the air intake as well. My truck still runs.

I don't wash mine that much, either. I always spray out the frame and under the truck to make sure nothing under there rusts out, but I leave the mud all over it.

Ok so I like a rig a bit cleaner...Growing up in concrete construction and running my own business I got more muddy job sites to last me...I don't need any more badges now...

My question is over time with all the mud does the windows get marked/damaged? where the wipers are running over them ??

It hasn't had any effect on my windows. Even if it did, I'm sure I would have the same problem with the rain. It's not like the dirty mud darkens it or anything.
