DUMB Axx

First off id like to apoligize to anyone who i offended with my offroading humor. C i got stuck the other day in sand. When i say stuck i mean my bumper was sittin on the ground and the bed was burried into sand. Anyways other than a good set of all terain or off road tires is there anything you can do to a 2wd truck that would help you to get better offroading besides not doing it. Cuz i know i could of done better like had weight in the back. Maybe invest in a wench things like that. Any suggestions would help other then buying a 4wd. :o) thanks
ben

A lift kit would be where I would start. Then, make sure that you have a good limited slip or a locker. Then, I would go with a winch.

Since from your signature you're doing alot of onroad driving with this truck I'd go with a LS than a true locker. A true locker isn't going to be as streetable as a LS will be. The downside of the LS is that it can leave you at some really bad times. For better offroad performance on your truck I'd go first with the limited slip, then a lift kit (reccommend a leveling kit), then upgrade to more agressive tires to match the lift (33/12.5/16).

a locker for the rear would help you out emensly, a true locker is not that bad on the street dont listen to what people that have never had one say, i wont lie too you it is noisy and you will get alittle tire scrub but it is not that bad at all, a LS wont help all that much when you are stuck unless you get one with a raelly low preload on it, or you can get a selectable locker, if you spen most of your time on the streat and not that much time offroading then i would go with the selectable, i have run alot of difrent diffs in alot of diffrent vehicles and the best traction adder is a locker, if you have any questions about witch LS or Locker or Selectable locker to go with ask me, like i said i have used them all including a spool witch i dont recomend at all, hope this helps

For sand I would suggest A lift kit ( just enough to cover the extra height of 33" tires) and a set of Mickey Thompson Baja HP's in 33 X 14.50. They are wide and give you a big footprint in the sand, which is what you need, and they are quiet and very streetable on the road. Just remember to air down for sand and air back up when done and getting back on the road. After that you might look into a Detroit Truetrak locker, pretty strong but not noisy because it is a worm gear drive set up.

just thought i'd toss my 2 cents in about the true trac.......def worth the money and i havent had mine unlock on me at all, it stays locked as long as you have some traction to the wheel.....i took it out in 2wd where before i had to use 4LO.

wench fun, but winch more useful :)

with only 2 wheels powering, you do have an
offroad challenge.

investment in a wench would certainly be some
fun if you were stuck, but my vote would
be for the winch investment to get unstuck.

hope your funny bone is intact, jackc...
