First time off-roading

First time off-roading and have a few pics i'd like to share. I think everybody will enjoy them. How do I post pics here? I'll try to put them in my gallery, but I don't know how much room I have left. Anyway, I almost tipped over and we had a blast. Me and my friend met up with some people in the bushwackers off-road club and went through some mud. I can't believe the stuff I went through. Yeah, I had to be pulled out a couple times, but I think that was due to lack of experiance. We had some good spotters and by the time I got through the third hole (the one I almost tipped), I made it through the next two that I thought for sure i'd get stuck and I didn't! Man that was cool. Best part is nothing broke! My steering wheel is a little off center, but that's it. I can't wait until next time. I'll be putting in 4:10 gears and some badly needed tow hooks up front and this shackle thing out back.

No offence to anyone, but at first glance I noticed that most people around here have the newer trucks and barely touch the dirt and they're off roading. Do you guys frown on the older guys posting over here? I noticed urbancowboy has an older truck. If you guys don't like to see the older trucks posting here, than tell me and I won't.

To put pictures in here first upload them to yor gallery. They usually hold quite a few pictures so I wouldn't be too worried there. Then while you're looking at the larger photo right click on it and you will see a URL in the window. Copy said URL then above the post text box there is an IMG button. Click that button and paste your URL in that box and it will automatically insert the picture.

Now as far as posting in here this is a mainly 97+ F150 oriented site, but there are quite a few 96 and older trucks. With the exception of the clearly marked forums the others are open game. Myself I used to wheel my F150 but that has long since stopped. It was causing too much damage and I wish that I had never taken it out in the first place. Now it is the tow rig (shortly to be replaced). I currently, well sort of, wheel an 86 Ranger. Right now its down with no front axle until I can get the D44 and 9" under it. So I'd say go ahead and post your pictures.

and four. After the mud, we cleaned up the trucks (all of the trucks were covered) and went to some sand for more fun. My buddy has the chevy w/38" swampers. We raced each other up the hill, first time he won and second time I won (he hit a couple ruts, but i'll take it).

Sweet

Those dunes look like the north west corner of lower Michigan. Is that where you were? I love to beat my truck, but I hate it when thinks break.

Actually northeast, near Mio, Michigan. They have a place near there called "bullgap" and I guess the sand hill there is about 10x the size of the one pictured. Everybody goes there (dirt bikes, quads, jeeps, 4x4 trucks). But when I went, me and a couple other people did'nt have ORV stickers and I guess it is a highly patroled area, so we did'nt go there. I will soon though, cause I want to see if the old Ford can make it up.

Yeah, when things break it sucks, but you gotta plan it smart and have some good buddies with ya and some tools, just in case.

lol

NO OFFENCE BUT THATS THE FUNNIEST THING IVE SEEN IN A WHILE. hOW THE HECK DID YOU GET UR TRUCK IN THAT PERDICAMENT. Y DIDNT U DRIVE IT THROUGH THE WATER. WHAT I DO WHEN I DO RIVER CROSSING IS TAKE AN XTRA PIECE OF EXHAUST AND STICK IT ONTO MY CURRENT EXHAUST AND CLAMP IT ON IN STEAD OF IT RUNNING LENTH WISE IT RUNS UP THE SIDE OF MY BED SO NO WATER CAN GET INTO IT. I CAN SIT IN IDLE IN THE RIVER I CAN SHUT IT OFF ALTHOUGH I WOULDNT RECOMEND IT

Blueworkhorse, the only thing offensive about your post is; it's in all caps. Like the thread is named "first time off-roading", it was my first time, so maybe the best judgment call wasn't made. A much bigger truck went through before me and I thought that I wouldn't make it or water would come into my intake (which isn't too good, cause I have a supercharger), so I decided to try to ride the center and the edge. Didn't work to well as you see. Yes it is very funny and I had plenty of laughs showing it to friends. That's what it's all about, having fun and trying not to break stuff. I learned one important thing when I went out, it's that with my big truck it's nearly impossible to ride any ridges, I always slipped in, causing me to be in a worse position than I would've been in if I tried to go straight through and got stuck. I did make it through the last two holes that I thought I would've gotton stuck in. And yes I went straight through them. When my tires are gone.... 2" body lift, 37" Goodyear MTR's!
Btw, last week a big full size off road truck with 42" swampers tried the same hole and because the hole is narrow and he doesn't have beadlocks, two tires came off the rim and ended up being a 5 hour ordeal.

Sweet pics, Mike! We used to have a place up by Lewiston, just a skip away from Mio. We'd pass through Mio to get there. The pic of the dunes looks EXACTLY like some just outside of Lewiston. Good times! Its good to bit by the offroad bug! I'd love to go off-roading again, but I'm WAY to paraniod about my truck now...

If you guys from Michigan are not busy on the 14th of August I will be at Silver Lake. in the Dunes. Check out;

BTW, IMHO if anybody wants to post about their truck, regardless of the year, then go ahead. There is always something to learn from it.
