Automatic entry steps/Nix the running boards

I have seen power retractable entry steps on trucks in magazines, but has anyone in the real world ever installed them. I want to get rid of the running boards on my Expy, but I really like having a step for ingress/egress. Thanks

Welcome to the boards!

I have no expereince with the running borads you mention - although I nearly 'power retracted' one of my off my truck while on a trail in Colorado. Luckily I only bent it, and I was able to take it off later.

You might try posting in General, Appearence Products, or General Care - those areas get a lot more traffic then Off-Road.

Line-X of Santa Fe Springs has them on their F-250. After getting my 04's truck bed sprayed there and seeing their power retractables, i was sold. They are so quick and so smooth and they hide away perfectly. I am going to try to go back there this week to check on the brand and stuff. I'll try to snap some pics and post them. they bought the truck from a dealer already modded out and they said the price was around $1000, but they weren't sure.

Check out my gallery. I have pics of the Line-X Santa Fe Springs truck in there with the power retractable running boards. they go all the way down before the door is even open enough for a person to get in or out. they are awesome and about 4 inches wide. they come down low enough to be a useful step, not like a lot of nerf bars that are too close to the truck body to be useful. enjoy.

They look like they would be nice, you wouldn't have to worry about destrying them while off-roading.

Yah, but will they hold the weight of my 450 pound mother inlaw?!?
I'm thinking of installing a small winch to aid in the insertion and extraction of the M.I.L. unit.
Sheesh!

Kodiak Sidewinders are one of the best retractable steps out there. I plan on getting some of these next year for my truck. I have seen alot of Super Duties with these.

Those are the ones I saw that made me want some (Kodiak). But the other full length ones would be really nice on my expy, being 4-door and all.

Lonster - Load the MIL unit in the bed! If a livestock ramp or loading dock aren't readily available, I recomend a TommyGate and cattle-racks - and maybe a Bed-Rug for her comfort (If that's much of a concern)
