protecting the coils??
protecting the coils??
I went mudding or more like drivin thru deep water cuz it made my undercarriage cleaner than before. I have a 01 ext cab 4x4 with a fabtech 6 and 35s. Well any way the motor started to misfire when i left and it turned out the dealer said it was 3 bad coils and that all the spark pugs were fouled. It still drove but shook like hell at low rpms. Any way i figure it was from rivin thru deep water for frolonged amount of time. the water probly came up to about a little above the bottom of the door. Is the any kind of splash guard or water proof coils to keep this from happening? Or do i just need to quit the water stuff and stick with the more mud and no water thing?
Thanks,
moto

Check the fit on the plug boots. Were the 3 bad coils on the same side? Sounds like it is time to get the diaelectric grease out.
6 inch lift and wheels turned in water will allow a lot of water to be thrown up into the engine compartment, if you spin them. Water up to the bottom of the doors should put you well above plug hight. Besides look at where the OEM air inlet is located. If you were sitting in water up to the plugs you would have hydrolocked the engine. I have had the engine coated with a ¼ inch of mut and it still ran.
