Skid plates?

Heya guys,

I tried this post in another forum, but got no replies..... Thought I'd try this one since it seems a little more appropriate.......

I have an '03 S'Crew 4x4, but not with the off-road package. I'd like to add the various skid-plates... whats the best way?

Maybe buy some used ones from a salvage yard? Or is there after-market?

Thanks for any info or advice....

Either salvage yard, dealer, or make them yourself.

You may talk to some current FX4 owners to see if there are any for sale. I'm pretty sure I'll be replacing at least my front axle skidplate with an RCD one when I lift it, but unfortunately that's not anytime soon. And Powerstroke is right, you may be able to go to a metal shop (if you don't have a garage like me) and get them to fab you up one alot cheaper than the dealer would probably charge. If you've got a few months and I get what I think I should back from the government, I may be able to help you out -

Looked at mine yesterday and the plate (stock) has a 4 inch dent in it! Look almost like I landed on top of a large rock.

Good thing that skid plate was there or my aux oil and transmission cooler lines would have been hit. Now I need to get another plate, perferably a thicker one and maybe a bit larger.

I think I am going to talk to some friends who may be able to make one for me... Unless there anyone has another idea.
