Question Front End Binding????

How much front end binding is normal on a 4x4, ifs system. I have a '97 150 i know you should not use 4 wheel drive on dry pavement. I tried it and my steering was basicly non existat. about a half turn of the steering wheel was all. is this another one of the "Normal" occurances that ford will tell me, or has anyone else noticed it too. One mechanic I spoke with said it was a locked diff. I find that hard to believe. My friends with chevy ifs have not had such problems, have any other ford drivers come across this problem?

Don't have it in 4x4 for any length of time on pavement. Everyone I have seen binds. Out of all of the things "FORD" says is normal, this is.

Thanks ford tough-1,
I knew some binding was normal, my old ford had it too, I was just curious if this extreme amount was bad CV axles, a bad diff., or something like that. I have spoken with a service manager that I am friends with, he said that he has seen guys have the steering wheel jerked out of their hand completly. Thanks again for the info
