Just changed my rearend fluid everything went good,, boy does that stuff smell bad,, anyway was wondering what is that electrical connection on the top of the rearend justs looks like a plug-in type connector,,,, nothing wrong with it just wondering what it is for

I think it has something to do with the anti lock brakes

Sensor picks-up a signal off of the tone ring (behind ring gear on you diff. carrier) to control the ABS. In some cases this sensor also sends signal to speedometer.
