Beefier steering shaft?

I have been having this problem with my telescopic steering shaft for some time now, I put a body lift in the truck, and added 33" Wrangler MT/R's and the shaft keeps wearing out and I get slack in my steering. If anyone has installed a Trailmaster or similar body lift you know they send you an adapter for it, and you must cut the solid piece of the shaft and put this adapter in, well when I installed the kit the adapter they sent wasn't the right one. So I cut the shaft and welded a small piece of pipe in to extend it. I know the MT/R's are a fairy tough tire, so I started looking for a steering stabilizer, but I was told that I could only get one if I had a suspension lift. Has anyone else had this problem? I would like to find a heavier shaft to replace the stock one, but where can I find one?
