My leaf springs are out of alignment!!

I recently noticed that the clips (if there were any) that keep the leaf spring pack aligned were no longer on the truck. Is there anything I can do to fix this or should I just replace them (would like to cause they have 100k miles on them but dont want to cause it would be expensive). Are there any cheap fixes or alternatives to this problem??

Mhussey,
I hear your pain.
I had the same prob awhile back.My rear ladder bars were all out of whack.
You have to measure from a fixed point on your axle to the frame on each sides of the truck. They should be close or your will be dog tracking.......its just slang ,meaning your rear of your truck looks like its going to pass the frontend.
If it sis off by alot, you have to loosen the leafspring bolts and try to slide the rear axle,so that the measurements pretty close to each other.

I read the following somewhere. I have no personal experience doing this, so don't flame me if it's a dumb idea. Jack it up to take the weight off of the springs. Then use a C-clamp to line them back up. Use a big wire tie to keep them in place.

Lightbulb

I've had the same thing since I bought the truck with 24k on it. I don't think the springs had any clamps to begin with. The dealer fix from what I remember was to loosen the spring plate so you can align them, tightening the spring plate back up, then clamping them with spring clamps. Most cities will have a spring shop around that can install or sell you the clamps.,,,,98
