Rear End Cover

Does anyone have a source for getting nice new aluminum rear end cover. I was looking to dress up the underside of my rearend with one of the nice black aluminum w/ raised cooling fins.

thanks

Mag-Hytec makes them for our trucks but they are pricey. I believe they're about $250.

Mag-Hytec

Finned aluminum, all O-Ring seals, stainless hardware, dipstick, drainplug, temp sensor port, and ~1qt additional capacity. The additional qt is partially in the extra housing depth, but more into the axle tubes such that the axle bearings and seals are immersed in an oil bath.

Yes, they are spendy, but lowered the temp at least 15F. I've had mine on for ~1yr now & like it. Just for kicks, I'll be trying synthetic fluid that roy recommended (don't recall off hand).

Whatever you do don't get a chrome cover. It's a proven fact that shiny chrome doesn't radiate heat as fast as black metal or plastic does. Trust me... I work with big stainless pots cooking up cosmetics all day.

You want a rought dark surface and/or something with heat fins on it.

That mag-hytec cover looks nice. Wish the fins were bigger though (deeper or taller).

Question Hey Houndawg

Do you have a 8.8 or 9.75 rear end? It's a lot harder to find them for the 9.75.

if you go to your ford dealer and get a cover from a crown vic. (8.8) its an aluminum version of the ones on the trucks ...you can buff it up to look just like chrome and it won't rust....
