Shudderin' Sucatash!

I've noticed that when I'm cruising along a normal rpm and I suddenly punch the gas pedal, my truck chugs a few times and then gets better in the higher rpms. It kinda feels like axle wrap. It's worse when I'm in 4wd. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a problem or is it something normal?
The engine starts and idles perfectly. I don't feel like the engine is missing. I've cleaned my MAF, double checked my chip, changed the fuel filter and reset the cp. I have a 5spd, so it's not the shudder experienced with an automatic.
I also noticed driving in the rain today, when the tires where cold, that the chugging went away. As the tires warmed up, the chug came back. Could my LS be acting up? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the dreaded torque converter shudder. Changed the tranny fluid and filter lately? 30k miles is time for a change.
