Angry SIDE GEARS

I had a very audible growl coming from the rear of my truck since the 65k mark, most noticable around 40-50 mph. After reading several posts and having made some decisions prior to the growl,I decided to change the ring and pinion gears. I thought that this had to be coming from the gears themselves, well I was right, however it was from the side gears not the ring and pinion. I had purchased sets for the front and rear so i figured I would go ahead anyhow and change them, even the front side gears were in very rough condition. It only raised the price an additional $250 bucks (lube included)and I have fresh gears, bearings and seals front and rear. I love the new 4.56 gears as well!! Hope this helps someone with a noise. Pull the cover first, if you don't want to change ratios, and check your side gears along with the spider gears.
