I have been out of warranty for a long time also.......Well sorta zI purchased the truck and it had 60K on it and I firmly believe that the extended warrantees are a rip off.The dealer did give me a 3month or 3k warranty(they do it on all their used rigs).In the fine print of the warranty,it specifically states that no seals or gaskets are covered........

It does seem like this is a growing problem, but it is a really a minor thing because the when it starts leeking it does so very slowly

 

Mine's in the shop today for the second seal replacement since having the entire rear end rebuilt. The mechanic said they see this often and they now use an aftermarket seal that is slightly larger than the Ford. He said it works well. I will see if I can get a brand name and will post it.

 

Get you an extended warranty. About $1200.

mine went bad this week, i wish i could say it was leaking slowly (which it was for 2 days until it started spraying everywhere under my bed. its going to be a weekend project, hopefully a quick one. if it is spraying pretty bad when driving, do you think there are more problems other than the seal? im just happy a friend/mechanic is allowing me to use his shop any suggestions on a good seal to use and from where?
