Front end noise

When I turn to the right I have a noise that's sort of a "vub, vub, vub" and seems to be coming from the left front wheel area. As I straighten the wheel it goes away and I do not get it when turning left. In addition, the left front tire is also wearing with a cupping pattern on the outside edge. Can anyone tell me what they think it may be? CV joint, bearing? Oh yeah, it's a 97 F150 4 x 4, 4.6. Thanks in advance for any clues.

fornt end noise

I have the same problem, I replaced the steering gear box as it was bad still have the noise. All other front end parts seem okay. It is getting worse as time passes. If you find a fix would you please email me with it.

Thank you,
Rick

Have you checked the wheel bearings? While you are at it, check your ball joints.

My left front wheel bearing was bad ($150 ish). While changing it I found that my top ball joint was bad.

Just my.02 cents.

Good luck.
