grinding noise in the front right side(I think)

whenever I'm starting from stop sign or turning a corner (not all the time, if I ease out it doesn't seem to do it) it makes a grinding almost like something is rubbing sound in the front right side and sometimes in reverse as soon as I start to go there's a pop. I think the two are related but I'm not sure, I'm no mechanical genius by any means.. I don't think it's the autohubs, tierods, ball joints, bearings or brakes (these are what I've checked)... But let me know what you think.

oh yeah its a 93 4x4 5spd 300 6cyl

it also doesn't idle real well, sometimes it dies on me, I put new plugs, fuel filter and checked the pcv valve all are good... any ideas

well i've investigated a little further, it seems to be in the middle of the truck around where the tranny, transfer case, etc. is. right when you put it in reverse and start to go or in first and start to go, it's just a pop.. I don't know but it sounds expensive.....
