Opinions on EATON Posi please...

I am about to do a gear swap and found a pretty good deal on an Eaton Posi. The truck is a daily driven one but i do occasionally go to the drag strip. I'm going from 3.55's to 4.10's. I think i've heard good things about the Eatons but i may be wrong. So, my question is is how good is an Eaton posi.??

thanks
justin

I presently own three Ford trucks. One has Auburn (1979, F-150). One has OEM Trac-loc (99, F-150) and one I will install my new Eaton-Posi in within the nest 6-weeks (1994 Ranger, with 8.8", 28-spline).

Personally, I have had good luck with the Auburn (Pro series). I had an experience this weekend that let me know the Auburn hooks up tight. I was driving thru some deep dry ruts in a field--turned vehicle to the right to climb out of the ruts--all of a sudden diff. locks up and I am sliding side ways and truck is still pulling (I was in low gear). This did not suprise me; however, I have owned this F-150 for 15 years (had the Auburn in it for 8 years). I know the trac-loc would not have acted like this. I drove this vehicle for 7 years with OEM trac-loc.

I am anxious to see how the Eaton-Posi will work in the Ranger. I am purchasing ranger from my Uncle's Estate. Don't want to install the Eaton, until title is in my name.

At my regular vocation, I have customers purchase Eaton-Posi (usually about one or two per month). No complaints ever on the Eaton-Posi. try: http://www.eatonposi.com to view eaton traction products. Be sure is you install any type of friction plate (or cone type diff., like an Auburn)--ADD FRICTION Modifier to your lube.

Recently, I spoke with a Rep. @ Eaton-Posi and related that there is no application for the new E-locker for the 9.75" Ford diff. (if you have a 5.4L Triton). She was very well informed with the product she represents and She assured me that Eaton Corp. will be producing an E-Locker for the 9.75", rear diff. next year.

before you get set on an eaton, think about a detroit locker limited slip. i have had several people recommend it above all others, including NEAL newman. i dont have any experience with one because my truck has factory installed LS, but one week on popular hot rodding TV dean and cam did a segment on rear ends, and they recommended the detroit locker over the rest.
