Post Gear ratio

I checked the tag on my 97 and it reads under axle id #18 what ratio is this??, truck was made in canada our friends to the north.

Should be 3.08 ratio open diff. (non limited slip) if door tag reads 18.

thanks and are these good gears??? i get around 21 miles to the gallon

mine says 19
so what gears do i have????
how do i know if it a LS or Open

JDm- 19 = open(non-LS),3.55

They are good gears for gas mileage and freeway driving. Not so good for towing or off the line grunt. I do have to say that I enjoy getting those 20+mpg tanks on the freeway, doing 70 with the tach still around 1800 rpms. It does lug doing 55 though!

It does lug at 55 but at 175 a gallon for gas here i'll take it. I commute 55 miles each way each day.

I hear ya and I'll second that motion at 1.81 a gallon! I only commute 30 miles a day each way, but it adds up!
