I keep hearing a clunk that seems to be coming from underneath the truck. It happens quite a bit. When I get in the truck, or just standing by it - never while driving. It almost sounds like something is in a bind and then clunks out of or back into place? I have a 98 4.6 and I've noticed this clunk ever since I got duals and side steps (attached to frame) put on (same day too). Thanks for any info!!

 

I have the same clunk as you call it, on my 98 XLT EXT 4x4. No mods other then the motor, K&N type stuff. It happens when I go over uneven ground. Once back on level, "clunk" then all seems fine. Wish I knew what it was, but the wife refuses to be strapped under the truck to watch( she said she would drive though). I will watch this thread, hope you get the answer.
