Angry Half A Burnout żżż

I can get my right rear tire to spin like a demon and get some nice smoke on take off, but the left rear seems to just roll on its own. I can not get both wheels to burnout at the same time. Why is that?

And yes, I know it's not good for the trans or drivetrain, but I want to get a few good pictures of a nice two wheel burnout, then I'll quit doing that.

Thanks,
cigarxtc

How'd you get your question marks upside down?

I guess that means you've got an open differential. That's what mine does in the dirt and on ice. Just one tire spins and spins but I never go anywhere.

Hey Flatlander,
Hold down your ALT key and press 0 1 9 1 on your keypad, then let go. ż

As for the spinning right tire, does it hurt anything, since it spins while the left tire just rolls on?

I think you've just got an "UN-Limited" slip rear-end unless it's messed up. Besides, in a picture you can't really see both sides at the same time.

Neal,

How did you get the hp numbers for your truck? I figure I have 280 hp in mine (please see signature)but I can't lite up my tires at all. I don't know what size tires you have, mine are 12 inches wide and I know that is part of the reason. Are the extra mods you did worth the extra 45 hp (figuring you started at 235 with the 5.4)? Besides the displacement, the main difference in our mods that would produce hp seem to be the fuel injectors and more air intake mods. Do these really give you 60 hp. What do you think? Thanks. Nice truck!

HI!... WAREAGLE : Those H.P figures that I give in my SIG are estimated since I do not have a GOOD dyno machine available to me around this area. I have a very accurate "DRAGMATH" program that I test H.P figures on. Since we know that our trucks lose 65H.P through the drivetrain, SUPERCHIPS has proven this on their "EDDY" current dyno, I add the figure to my rearwheel H.P given to me by my DRAGMATH program. The DRAGMATH program takes your 1/4 mile E.T, 1/4 mile mph, and the weight of your truck and mathmatically figures out what your H.P is at the rear wheels. Then I just added the 65H.P drivetrain loss to that # and got 342H.P at the flywheel. I rounded it off to 340H.P. I have used this program for years now and it has been right on every time. I also have not mentione "ALL" my mods in my SIG. I have to keep some TRADE secrets to myself!LOL! Let's just say, that these secrets make a BIG difference in 1/4 mile times. I read your SIG and your 280H.P (flywheel) estimate is right about on. I have the 5.4 and it has 260H.P stock. I have 275/60/R-17 tires on my truck. They are 11 inches wide with a 10 inch tread. They are 30 inches tall.

Thanks. Neal, If you want to share some of your secrets, you can reach me at srwilson@bellsouth.net. I'm debating adding 5.4 heads after porting and polishing or a mangancharger. Got to save some to get it done though.

HI!... CANADIANSCREW : Ya, there was'nt much left of those tires after the burnout. Just ask JMC, he was the one taking the pics. Actually the reason for the burnout was that right after it, I was getting new tires installed. Let me just say this, if I were to do another burnout right after that one, it would of been all sparks!LOL! I still don't know how they held air after seeing them.

P.S : CANADIANSCREW : Just to let you know that some of us CANADIAN F-150 ONLINE members are getting together at SPARTA DRAGWAY, near LONDON on APRIL 7TH. Hope to see you there.

Neal, I think if you scrape out the melted rubber from your fenders, you'd drop about 1/8th second.
