4x4 won't engage
can anyone tell me what the pink and blue wire that runs on the passenger side of the engine above the transfer case are? I ssupect they are the leads to lock the front hubs/axle in to 4 wheel drive. I've been having a problem with it shiifting in when it's cold, but got my truck stuck this morning when I though it was engaged, when I got back home and had time to look, I found these two wires loose under the truck. They have crimped spots in them, so I'm sure they came out of a plug. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
The system is a vacuum engage type, so if it's cold, the air pressure will be lower, probably low enough to not be able to fully lock the wheels. I think this is generally a problem with 4x4's in cold weather. Sorry to give a crappy answer, but from everything I've read and heard, that's about all that's been said.

Assuming you have ESOF-
Like r0land said; the hubs are vacuum operated . However, I've never had a "cold-weather" problem on either vehicle. The wires could lead to the motor that engages the transfer case. If no one knows, you may have to do some more diags.

They're not wires. They're plastic vacuum lines that engage and disengage the central axle disconnect. if they are kinked, Cracked, disconnected or leaking in any way, your 4wd system WILL NOT work.

They are vacuum lines!! How they got crimped like they did and borke totally in two is a mystery. Here tehy broke was above the front axle near the wheel well. I was able to connect the ends into the conector by rerouting them for a tempoary fix, I guess I'll have to buy new vacuum lines to make a permanent repair. Thnks for the help.
