Unhappy LS quite working ?

One day it worked the the next it didn't. Only one wheel spins arround corners or with one wheel on ice. etd. It also make a loud grinding, chattering noise when the one wheel spins. Will a bottle of friction modifier fix it or do the clutch packs wear out in these rear ends. 60000 miles.

Mine quit under warrenty but didn't make any grinding noise. Dealer installed a new clutch pack & said they put an extra disc in. It's been OK since.

in a LS the clutches will wear out. Hell, try to get a powertrax now. If i was keeping mine i'd go that route. I;ll prolly put one in MY SD up front, and a detroit in the rear.

Farmtruck,

Have it looked at as soon as possible. I am on my second differential with this truck.
The dealer no longer wants to warranty it. If enough friction material from the clutch packs build up in-between the gears you could end up with catastrophic failure. Twice my differential broke, the carrier actually fractured.

JMC: Can you describe in detail what broke -- and in what condition it ended up -- and do you know why?

Thanks for the info. Is it a big job to change the clutch packs. I like to do as much as I possibly can myself. Shop time sucks money!
