Post Question about 4 wheel drive system in 2001.

I'm trying to find an extended cab 5.4, and I have a question. On the test drive I was a little uneasy with the operation of the four wheel drive system. I know it's convientent to have a SOF system, but I'm worried about accidentally rotating the **** too far and ending up in 4 wheel lo. Is this a consideration, or is there something that will limit the transfer case from shifting into lo if the revs are too high? Just trying to find out some information about how the system works.

It's been covered in the design, like the old system before it. Have to be in Neutral, and stopped, before it will allow engagement of 4LO. Actually, I think it looks for a speed less than 3MPH or so, but I wouldn't test that, as that planetary set is designed to engage without being driven, no syncro's there!
They have tried to make it, ahhh, ummm, sort of, errr ... idiot proof.

Thanks for the reply, I figured it was something along those lines.

Don't forget... you must be stopped, in neutral (or I think park will work too, but not positive), with your foot on the brake pedal. Don't forget the last part.
