!!!I have a 2002 ford 150 crew cab. Use it to pull a trailer 3+ days a week hauling average 1500 lbs. It died on the side of the highway.. Rear end is locked up. Cant get the gear ratio easily. Stupidly had it towed to the ford dealership. They are basically holding it hostage until I pay them a couple hundred dollars for the "examination". Would like to know if I can find gear ratio, and other possibly pertation info before I go in to deal with them. so they don't try to baffle me with bs. Please someone help me.

 

There should be a metal tag on the diff cover showing the gear ratio and if it is limited slip. Also the sticker in the driver's side door jam has a code that tells you the same info.

If the door jam code doesn't contain a letter it isn't a traction lock rear.

I’m not sure about that fee. Did you request they look at it? Doesn’t seem right to just charge people for doing something a customer didn’t request nor get notified of beforehand.
