3.55 open gears ok w/ 35s?
3.55 open gears ok w/ 35s?
I have a 3.55 rear non limited slip can I run 35s w/ this or should I swap gears? I do a lot of highway driving and if I DO have to swap gears I probably will put a limited slip diff in
I'm running 32.8" diameter tires on my 02 with a 3.55 gear and it does okay. If I remember correctly it only turns 2200rpm at 80mph. I'm sure 35s would reduce the performance of the truck considerably over stock.
You need to mention which engine, etc.
From your other thread, I see you have a 4.6 3 valve with a 6 speed - I think I'd put 4.10's in it. Remember - with 4wd you also need to regear the front. You are looking at 2 grand to do that, and I would put an Eaton/Detroit locker in the rear, not OEM limited slip.
Do the tires first, buy a programmer and set of custom tunes to correct the speedometer/odometer and optimize the way it runs, and go from there.
