Swapping Rear ends

Hi all. my question is this: Is it possible to switch out a 9.75 ring gear 3.31 ratio rear end to a 8.8 ring gear 3.31 ratio rear end on a 4wd F-150 without damage to the truck? I appreciate the feedback.

Maybe. It WILL require a whole rear axle assembly, you can't just swap the pumpkin.

You need to post more details on your truck - year, model, engine, etc.

I would worry about the driveshaft mating with the smaller diff. Perhaps the driveshafts are the same. I don't know.

Not only that, but there's the issue of rear brake and spring/shock mount compatibility. Ford put a 9.75 in your truck for a reason, the 8.8 is not as heavy duty.
