Speedo Correction on '97 F150

MANY MANY years ago, when the '97-'03 trucks were still new-ish, there were many debates about how to correct the speedo if the tire size or rear gearing was changed. It seems like there was a difference from '99 and up compared to the '97/'98. I don't recall ever hearing the final word on it. My question will involve a '97 4x4 that I might trade for and might put slightly oversized tires on. I seem to remember that the '97/'98 trucks still used a gear-driven speedo off the trans. Am I correct? I'm hoping it's something that simple. I'd rather not have to go to a dealer and have something re-burned/programmed. Can you still get speedo gears? I'd be going from either a 29" or 30" to a 32". I know that's not much difference, but I'd still like to do it. Thanks.

You need a speedo gear. You can still get them.
