My power steering is pretty noisey, but I hear most F-150's are, so no biggie, however, today, I checked my fluid level, and it at the MIN. level, while it has always held steady at MAX. Could it be due to the temperature and the P.S. cooler? Today, it's only 4 degrees!!! Buuurrr..

Could be the low ambient temperature. Check it again after driving a few miles and see what the levels is. If it's still lower than normal, check for leaks and keep a keen eye on that level. If it drops more, you definitely have a leak somewhere.

 

I just found a leak in the shaft seal on my power steering pump. Only 18,000 miles on '99 4.6.

Hey man...where should I look to find this seal? I'm not all that fimilar with the PS. ALl I know is where the fluid res. and the external cooler is. TIA!!!
