4.2L stalling randomly
4.2L stalling randomly
Hey guys. I've read from this forum for the past 3+ years for my 1999 f-150 ;.2 liter v6 4wd. It is a 5-speed with manual transfer case. I had a rough idle problem. And after reading countless forums on here I changed the maf sensor. That didn't work. Then found the leak in aelbow under the throttle body. Darn rubber elbows imploding. Replaced it and the truck idled perfect. Also at the same time found a hose completely blow apart from the throttle body the the brake booster. Replaced that. Now I thought I had it fixed. Till now multiple times the truck has stalled out. I've isolated to to when I at higher rpms(I don't have a tach so idk the rpms) like accelerating hard then pressing the clutch and taking it out of gear. The truck dies. And I can press the clutch and fire it right back up. I have a check engine code of lean bank 1. Like p0171 I believe. This is such a wide code. It can be so many things. Anyone have any prior expierence and can give me a great place to start. I was think maybe pcv valve its self or the elbow for it. I looking back where it's at and there are more connectors than the google images searches I have found for this engine and year. But I have sprayed starter fluid all over the pcv line and elbow and no change in idle. Please I need help. And kinda given from it running lean I'm down to about 14.5 mpg where I was at about 18-19. Depending how I drive. Thanks guys. I'm sure someone will know something. Everything else I've ever needed I have found in this forum. Need more help with this one. Thanks
