4x4 bang/clunk when accelerating 2012
2012 F150 with 41,000 miles
A month ago, I brought it in because when accelerating while pulling a trailer i could feel the rear end slip internally. The dealership told me that it was a software issue and updated it. It does not slip anymore.
Today, the roads are icy so I put it in four wheel drive. When I accelerated from a stop, I could hear a bang in the rear end and it didn't seem like the front wheels were pulling. I could hear the sound that the electronics makes when the slip control activates. I do not think that the front is engaging and only the rear tires are spinning.
When in two wheel drive there is no noise and drives good.
Any ideas what is going on?

Yeah take it to a dealer and get them to check u-joints I believe there is either a TSB/SSM for that or if it has a two piece drive shaft it could be that middle slip yoke again TSB for that I have done a few at the dealership I work at and seemed to fix it
