47K and Replaced Rotors. Not Happy!
Anyone had issues with thier front rotors rusting away?
I just replaced the Front rotors on my 2011 F150.
Developed some shuttering in the steering wheel when braking and it got bad enough that I could not ignore it. I assumed it was warped rotors so was not happy, especially b/c I am very easy on my brakes. Got a text from my private mechanic with a pic of rusted rotors but did not think much of it. When I went to pick it up I saw the rotors with both inside surfaces so rusted and pitted that there were high spots raised up to 3/16" . They looked like the were soaked in a salt bath and left to rot for 10 years! The pads were junk because of the bad surface, and even if the rotors were not warped it was clear why I was getting the shuttering.
I am bringing the rotors down to the dealer to complain about the crappy quality even though they are out of warranty.

Not torquing the wheels properly every time they're installed will cause that. Took me countless sets of rotors in years past before I learned this truth. I have 48k on my truck and it's still as smooth as the first day. Even when I get tires changed, I break the lugs loose and torque them to 150 lb-ft before I drive away.
