Hello all. Was wondering if someone could help me a little. 1997 ford 150 regular cab 4x4.....has ford keyless entry though looks like it was added later not from factory. Problem is truck will not start until I hit the unlock button on the key fob. So in other words if I lose the fob I'm stranded. Truck cranks perfect once I hit the unlock on fob. Any any any help would be greatly appreciated cause the dealership around my parts have no idea what's going on. Thanks brad

 

If key is in ignition and I hit unlock it won't crank. Key has to be out of switch

 

Sounds like starter disable from a alarm. Check under the dash on the drivers side. Thats usually where the alarm brain box gets put. Do you have a pic of the fob to share? I may help us help you.

 

I looked under dash and all I see the the keyless entry box that has ford emblem on it. There is no other boxes under dash. I did unplug all plugs on the keyless entry box but that didn't have a effect/help. This is really ridiculous. I thought a after market alarm or something had been put in but I don't see nothing but factory keyless entry box !!!

 

Not sure how to post a pic of my fob. It has ford at top with 2 buttons. Lock and unlock.

 

sounds like dealer installed, not factory
