engine SWAP

hey guys have a 92 4x4, 5.0 5 speed
putting in an 89 5.0 out of crown vic.
do I need to worry about putting on my flex plate

Manuals don't use flex plates, they use flywheels. You will need to use your flywheel unless the replacement engine came out of a manual.

GLC yah I mis spoke, wasn't sure if there would be a balance issue

I believe that 1981 was the last year of the 28oz imbalance. In 1982 Ford switched to 50oz in the 302. Check the casting numbers on the cranks. If they match they are the same and you can use the 92 fly wheel.
